Lucy

My eyes are locked on the dark highway as it rolls under us, but all I want to do is turn to the side and stare at Dylan. Everything about him is intriguing.

The man literally turned into a grizzly bear to save me from those men back there. He got shot three times and then plucked out the bullets with his fingers. He’s the size of an ogre and as hot as an A-list actor.

But more intriguing then all of that is the yearning fire he stokes in my core. I want him so badly. I want him to claim me, to have all of me, to be deep inside me. I don’t understand any of it. I’ve never had feelings like this before. Not even close.

A spot on my neck starts tingling as we pass a few cars. I touch the spot under my left ear, but the tingling only grows stronger. It feels… weird. Like it’s missing something. Like I’m missing something. I can’t explain it, I’ve never felt anything like this before.

Dylan lets out a low rumbling sound as he watches me. “That’s where my mark belongs.”

“Am I your… mate?” I ask with a hard swallow. “You’re a bear shifter, right?”

“I am,” he says in that deep sexy voice I find irresistible. “And yes, Lucy. We’re mates.”

Mates… I don’t even know what to think about that. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this mysterious stranger is my husband. So much has changed in the past hour. My entire life has been flipped upside down.

“What does that mean?” I ask with a tremble. “What do I have to do?”

He looks at me and the ferocious intensity in his warm green eyes makes me shiver all over. I barely know him, but I do know that he would do anything for me. He would kill to protect me. He already has.

“You just have to be yourself,” he says as his eyes roam down my body before turning back to the road. My pussy pulses with heat in response. “Follow your heart. Don’t fight it.”

“Fight what?”

“That feeling that’s coursing through your body. Do you feel it? The yearning for me. The pull toward me. The craving. The need?”

He looks at me and all I can do is nod. How does he know? It’s like he’s spying inside my head.

“If you think it’s strong for you,” he says with a deep inhale, “you should feel what it’s like for me.”

“I’m sorry,” I say. I don’t want anyone to feel like they’re forced to be with me.

“No,” he says in a fierce tone. “That’s not what I meant at all. I’m so happy I finally found you, Lucy. I’ve been searching for you for decades. Nothing has made me happier than having you by my side.”

We sit in silence as I fidget with my hands in my lap. This is a lot to process. I’m trying to think it through but it’s hard with all of these naughty things whipping through my mind.
